Figaro and the Magic Manor

[In Figaro’s room]

Akira: Figaro, is this the first time you’ve been to the Magic Manor?

Figaro: No, I’ve been here before. I met the previous Sage too.

Akira: Oh I see. Did you come because Snow and White were Sage’s Wizards?

Figaro: No, no, not at all. I don’t show up in the places where those two are present on my own volition. In recent times, I came here mostly for Arthur’s sake, I suppose?

Akira: For Arthur?

Figaro: Yeah. He seemed to be lonely, being in the Capital of Central Country all on his own. I kept the previous Sage company too because Arthur was worried about him.

Akira: Oh, so that’s how it was. That reminds me. You’ve known Arthur since he was a child, right?

Figaro: I suppose you can say that.

Akira: (He took care of the previous Sage, huh. I wonder if he has been so kind to me for the same reason)

Figaro: Oh, from your expression, it seems that you’ve misunderstood something.

Akira: No, I-…

Figaro: I’ve some idea about what you were thinking already. So speak up, will you?

Akira: You already knew, yet you are making me say it aloud anyway?

Figaro: I do that because I’d like to make you understand. It’s like training animals, I guess?

Akira: Training animals?

Figaro: I’m interested in you, and I don’t hate you, so I have been taking care of you.

Figaro: Next time when I’m asked about the Magic Manor, allow me to answer that it’s a place full of memories with Master Sage.

Akira: Figaro…

Akira: Thank you. I’ll continue to avail myself on your good will from now on.

Figaro: Right, like that. Well done.

Akira: By the way, what did you mean with ‘training animals’?

Figaro: Ahaha, please forget that.

Rutile and the Magic Manor

[In Rutile’s room]

Akira: Rutile, this year is the first time you’ve been to the Magic Manor, right?

Rutile: Yes, but I have heard a little about the Magic Manor from the Sage’s Wizards of Southern Country already.

Akira: Oh, the Sage’s Wizards who passed away. What did they tell you?

Rutile: According to them, they met wizards from various countries when they went to the Magic Manor. The Central wizards were considerate. The Western wizards were eccentric and drank glowing wine. The Eastern wizards were taciturn. And it was nerve wrecking when the Northern wizards showed up, but there was a gourmand among the group, so they chatted with that wizard from time to time.

Akira: I wonder who they meant.

Rutile: Mister Bradley, I suppose? Mister Owen eats a lot if it’s sweet treats too! And Mister Mithra would put anything in his mouth, so I suppose you can call him a gourmand.

Akira: Ahaha, I guess so. And how do you find the building of the Magic Manor? Is it as you imagined?

Rutile: It’s even more magnificent than I expected! The building is bigger than the schools in Southern Country, and there are beautiful garden and courtyard on top of that.

Rutile: Master Sage, I love the Magic Manor. Many people from different countries, at different ages, are living together under the same roof. Like Mister Mithra, whom my mother knew, or Doctor Figaro’s acquaintances, or that gentleman whom Mister Leno has been looking for. And I met you too. It’s like I’ve entered the box of a puppet play.

Akira: The box of a puppet play?

Rutile: That’s right. I feel like, since many interesting people have gathered together, it’s time we start our story.

Akira: That’s an interesting way to put it! When you say that, I feel excited too. I can’t wait to see what kind of story will begin here at the Magic Manor.

Lennox and the Magic Manor

[In Lennox’s room]

Akira: Lennox, this is the first time you’ve been to the Magic Manor, right?

Lennox: No.

Akira: Oh, is that so?

Lennox: When I was looking for Lord Faust, I visited the Magic Manor many times, because I heard that occasionally some Sage’s Wizards would be replaced. If he got summoned, I would probably be able to find out something about him.

Akira: I see…

Lennox: …..

Akira: You’re making such a complicated expression as you calculate something on your fingers. What’s wrong?

Lennox: I’m thinking about when Lord Faust might have been summoned to be a Sage’s Wizard. Maybe he was here at the Magic Manor when I came by.

Akira: Huh. But if that’s the case, why couldn’t you meet him?

Lennox: Perhaps Lord Faust asked the Sage’s Wizards at the time to keep quiet about him and they were being accordingly discreet. After all, they might invite a troublesome grudge if they disturbed the hermit life of an Eastern wizard.

Akira: I suppose so…

Lennox: Or maybe I’m not very sociable so they didn’t feel like helping me.

Akira: I don’t think that’s the case though.

Akira: (But I wonder if they thought he was a landlord who came to collect rent or something like that.)

Akira: It’s certainly hard to look for a wizard. Like, the person you’re looking for may take up a different appearance and such.

Lennox: Indeed.

Akira: What did you say when you were looking for Faust?

Lennox: I described how he looked and gave his name, and told people that maybe everything about him had changed but he loved cats and galettes.

Akira: Looking for a missing person is certainly hard work.

Lennox: You don’t change your appearance so I think I’ll be able to find you right away.

Akira: Ahaha, that seems to be the case. Please look for me if I ever get lost.

Lennox: Yes, I will definitely find you.

Mitile and the Magic Manor

[In Mitile’s room]

Akira: Mitile, is this the first time you’ve been to the Magic Manor?

Mitile: Yes! I’ve only been to the Magic Manor as well as the Central Country after I became a Sage’s Wizard.

Akira: I see! Have you gotten used to life at the Magic Manor?

Mitile: I’m not used to living here to the extent that I feel this is my home yet, but I’m having fun. There are very few wizards at the Town of Clouds, but wizards are the norm here.

Mitile: It’s a bit confusing to feel that I’m being treated like I’m normal like everyone else though.

Akira: In what way? Can you give me an example?

Mitile: Like, people here don’t rely on me for anything. When I’m with my friends, they usually ask me for help with things like pulling down a tree branch, catching something that’s flying in the air, applying herbs when they get injured, and so on.

Akira: Ah, I get it now! You’re certainly very capable, Mitile. If I were the same age as you, I’d look to you for help too.

Mitile: Ehehe, thank you.

Mitile: However, when I’m at the Magic Manor, everyone often tells me ‘Shall I do it for you?’ instead. It’s nice to be pampered by people older than me, but I must work even harder!

Akira: That’s commendable, but please take it easy and have fun too.

Mitile: I will! Whether I’m the one being pampered or the one doing the pampering, I'm happy either way!

Akira: You doing the pampering?

Mitile: Oh, uhm. I suppose Riquet is the only one who is on the side of needing my care. He has strong magic, but there are many things he doesn’t know yet, so I feel it’s my duty to teach him as his friend!
